The New 2018 Outlander, Outlander Sport, & Outlander PHEV

The New 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander, Outlander Sport, & Outlander PHEV
The Outlander family of vehicles has been a common site on the roads of Johnstown and Indiana for decades. Combining reliability, a go-anywhere attitude, and plenty of interior space, they are perfect for the on-the-go family or the driver who needs flexibility in their daily vehicle. With budget-minded and eco-friendly versions, there's a version for anyone.

Room to Grow
The five-seat 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is a perky subcompact SUV with flexibility. 97.5 cubic feet of passenger room means there is room for five adults, with the rear seats offering 36.3 inches of leg room. With all the seats in place, there's 21.7 cubic feet of space behind the second row of seats - more than enough for five or six pieces of luggage or a trip to the store. Drop the seats to open up 49.5 cubic feet, perfect for helping your friend move to Greensburg.

The five-passenger 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV offers slightly larger interior dimensions, particularly when it comes to cargo. While passengers are provided another 4.5 cubic feet of passenger room, cargo volume behind the second row ticks up to 30.4 cubic feet, enough for another 2 or 3 pieces of luggage. With the second row stowed, there's 78.0 cubic feet, the most spacious cargo hold of the Outlander family.

The 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander is one of the few compact SUVs to provide seating for seven. With 35.7 inches of head room in the third row and 28.2 inches of leg room, it's suitable for children and, on short rides like a brief trip to Johnstown, teens. Adults are likely to feel a bit cramped, but there's plenty of room in the first and second rows. 10.3 cubic feet of cargo space with all seats in place is plenty for school bags and small grocery runs, but you can take advantage of the flat-fold third row if you need more space. 34.2 cubic feet is plenty for hauling 15 bags of mulch from the DuBois Lowe's. If you need to haul more - a nice dresser set, or maybe you need to move your child into the dorms at Indiana University - expand the cargo area by folding the second row to open up 63.3 cubic feet of storage.

Efficiency to Spare
All of the Outlander models offer reasonable fuel efficiency - the days of the gas-guzzler are long gone. Getting up to 25 MPG city and 30 MPG highway, the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander is one of the most fuel-efficient seven-passenger SUVs on the market. Usually it's a choice between five passengers and decent fuel economy, or seven passengers and settling for 20 MPG around town. Not with Mitsubishi.

The 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport sees similar gas figures, ranging from 23 MPG city and 28 MPG highway in all-wheel drive models to up to 24 MPG city and 30 MPG highway in front-wheel drive editions. This is good enough to reduce the Sheetz stops between Greensburg and DuBois.

At the efficiency pinnacle is the Outlander PHEV. A plug-in Hybrid, it combines a small gas engine and electric motors. As an electric-only vehicle, it features a range of 22 miles, enough to make the trip from Portage to Johnstown without having to engage the gasoline engine. On gasoline only, the Outlander PHEV achieves 25 MPG, but when the two systems work together it achieves 74MPGe, meaning that you'll be able to go for quite a ways between fill ups.
Trim Levels
With three different models as well as a number of trims for each, you're bound to find an Outlander at Colonial Motor Mart that works for you.

The 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport starts out with the ES trim, featuring cloth seating, a six-way adjustable driver's seat, automatic climate control. A rearview camera, and remote keyless entry. The infotainment center features a 7.0-inch touch panel display audio system with USB port, Digital HD Radio, and Bluetooth wireless technology for streaming audio and hands-free phone. Upgrading to the SE trim brings heated front seats to combat the cold Greensburg winters, as well as a leather-wrapped steering wheel. FAST-Key passive entry system with push button start makes it easy to get on the road. The upgraded 7.0-inch Smartphone Link Display Audio System features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone compatibility, as well as dual USB ports. The top-of-the-line SEL trim brings High Intensity Discharge headlights to improve night visibility, leather seating surfaces, and an8-way power adjustable driver's seat. Cosmetic upgrades are added inside and out. Most importantly, it opens up the Touring package, which adds a panoramic glass roof, a 9-speaker Rockford Fosgate premium audio system, and active safety systems including Forward Collision Mitigation and Lane Departure Warning.

The 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV comes in two flavors, the SEL and the GT. Both have the 7.0-inch Smartphone Link Display Audio System with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone compatibility standard, both feature a power liftgate, and both have leather seating with heated, power-adjustable front seats. The major upgrades from the SEL to the GT include a power glass sunroof, Adaptive Cruise Control, a heated steering wheel, the Rockford Fosgate Premium Audio system, and the Forward Collision Mitigation and Lane Departure Warning active safety systems. Most importantly, it gets a Multi-View Camera system upgrade from the standard rearview camera.

With four different trims. The 2018 Mitsubishi Outalnder has plenty to offer. The base ES trim provides the basics, with fabric upholstery, manually-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and remote keyless entry. Like the Outlander Sport ES, the 7.0-inch touch panel display audio system with USB port, Digital HD Radio, and Bluetooth streaming audio and hands-free phone is standard. Upgrading to the SE brings heated front seats and a leather-wrapped shift knob, along with the 7.0-inch Smartphone Link Display Audio System with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone compatibility. The SEL adds leather seating and power-adjustability to the driver's seat, with a heated steering wheel, Multi-View Camera, 710-watt Rockford Fosgate premium audio system and power glass sunroof offered as part of an upgrade package. A power remote liftgate is standard on the SEL, as is Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The GT trim makes those options standard. Goth the SEL and GT can be equipped with the Touring package that adds Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, and Automatic High-Beam Headlights.
